Can a Leisurely Lifestyle Hold Off the Appearance of Wrinkles?

When a person lives life “in the fast lane,” he or she rises from bed each day and rushes off to school or the office. He or she usually rushes out into a chemical laden environment. Exposure of the endothelial cells to chemicals in the environment can damage the skin. It can hasten the appearance of wrinkles.
Whenever the outermost organ of the body undergoes daily exposure to toxic chemicals, it also feels the daily pull of gravity. Like chemicals in the air, the force of gravity can damage the skin. It can cause the skin to wrinkle, and to demonstrate the effects of aging.
Can a leisurely lifestyle hold off the appearance of wrinkles? A man or woman who pursues such a lifestyle might manage to delay the appearance of wrinkles, but even the most languid lifestyle can not prevent the inevitable changes that take place in an aging body.
Romans spent much of their time in a reclining position. In that way, they limited the degree to which the force of gravity pulled on their skin cells. Still, the skin of every human gets pulled and pushed in different directions, while that human sleeps. As sleeping humans pull and push their endothelial cells, they subject those cells to forces that can be as damaging as gravity.
Today, older adults have the ability to counter the effects of the harsh chemicals in the air. They can use skin care products that contain anti-oxidants. In that way, older adults can slow the formation of ‘free radicals” in their endothelial cells. By slowing the production of those substances, older adults can enjoy looking at a wrinkle free face for a longer period of time.
Present day adults also have access to skin care products that contain collagen and elastin. Youthful skin produces generous amounts of collagen and elastin. Youthful skin does not wrinkle.
Collagen provides endothelial cells with a “tensile strength.” Youthful skin feels firm to the touch because it contains a wealth of collagen. Yet collagen does not give endothelial cells the ability to recover from constant exterior forces (such as gravity). The protein known as elastin provides endothelial cells with elasticity. Skin needs both collagen and elastin in order to remain wrinkle free.
A leisurely lifestyle can not prevent the natural changes in the skin. Still, diligent use of a well chosen skin care product can delay the appearance of wrinkles. By taking advantage of the substances in such a product, an adult can extend the amount of time during which he or she sees a youthful and well-toned visage, following each glance in the mirror.
