Dr. Goshtasby’s preferred method is placing the implants under the muscles; this ensures a more natural feel and appearance, especially in lean and athletic clients.

Breast augmentation is the most commonly performed procedure in the U.S., with almost 300,000 cases last year alone. Naturally, this staggering number of surgeries means there are a lot of people performing them. If you’re considering breast augmentation in Newport Beach, don’t settle on just anyone; find a surgeon that’s on the cutting edge, has the proper experience and training, and who will take the time to walk you through the procedure. Katina Goshtasby of Newport Plastic Surgery explains how they operate, and what patients can expect from the operation.

Katina’s husband, Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon Dr. Parviz Hiroshi Goshtasby, has performed over 200 breast augmentation surgeries in both academic and cosmetic settings. Depending on the patient, some of these procedures have been more complicated. After performing several procedures, Dr. Goshtasby’s preferred method is placing the implants under the muscles; this ensures a more natural feel and appearance, especially in lean and athletic clients. When placed above the muscles, implants appear more artificial.

Silicone is the implant of choice for Newport Beach breast augmentation. More popular than the saline alternative, they’re less prone to rippling and better-emulate the feel of a natural breast. In addition, the FDA has cleared up the controversy about safety concerns with silicone implants, which are now considered to be as safe and effective as saline.

Katina explains patients can expect minimal pain and discomfort from the procedure during their one week of recovery. Any pain experiences can easily be remedied with prescription pain medications. Patients are monitored very closely, she adds, and most patients can expect to have their follow-up appointment the next day at the office in Newport Beach. Breast augmentation clients will schedule follow-ups before Dr. Goshtasby begins the operation.

There are many benefits to getting breast implants. Particularly for women that have been devastated by cancer, the operation can help build self-esteem and make them feel “womanly.” Katina explains that the strong association between fertility, womanhood, and breasts makes breast augmentation a significant part of the cancer recovery process for many women. Additionally, breast implants and other procedures can help restore women to pre-pregnancy form.

Katina adds that many patients feel the pressure and high expectations to keep their bodies in top form. In the warm weather of Southern California where you can be on the beach 10 months out of the year, people’s bodies are simply much more exposed.

It’s important to know that there is a key distinction between a doctor that is trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery and a cosmetic surgeon.

When deciding on a Newport Beach plastic surgeon, there are important variables to consider. Katina Goshtasby of Newport Plastic Surgery explains what clients should know when choosing a plastic surgeon.

Having the right qualifications

There is a key distinction between a doctor trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and a cosmetic surgeon. A cosmetic surgeon is able to perform operations with the intent of enhancing someone’s appearance, while plastic surgery is dedicated to addressing more reconstructive procedures such as birth defects, disease and trauma. A Newport Beach plastic surgeon works exclusively in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, which includes cosmetic surgery. A cosmetic surgeon, on the other hand, might be a doctor in any number of fields like dermatology, gynecology, or ophthalmology.

Katina’s husband, Dr. Perviz Hiroshi Goshtasby, is a board certified Newport Beach plastic surgeon specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery. With extensive education and training in both academic and cosmetic settings, Dr. Goshtasby has the qualifications beyond that of a cosmetic surgeon. In addition, plastic surgeons are able to take on more challenging cases and minimize the risk of problems from surgery. “The best insurance against complications is a qualified surgeon,” says Katina.

Being informed

It’s important for your surgeon to value patient education, and it’s a good sign if they’re taking the time to carefully explain everything and answer your questions. Before you get on the operating table, you should be made aware of everything that’s coming; understanding the after-care and healing process is important, as well as what to avoid (such as specific medications) to ensure that you don’t experience complications. A Newport Beach plastic surgeon that isn’t rushing the client through the process indicates a great attention to detail.

Getting the best result possible

Cosmetic surgeons are generally able to do breast augmentations and other surgeries without major problems. Without government regulations, someone with little training is not restricted from operating on patients. However, a board certified plastic surgeon will be well-versed in the newest, most sophisticated techniques, and often will able to handle more difficult cases. Before making the decision to enhance your appearance, ensure that you’re getting outstanding care with a Newport Beach plastic surgeon.

After the physical, hormonal and lifestyle changes of pregnancy, no amount of diet or exercise can achieve the goals many women want.

But first, what exactly is a “mommy makeover”?

A mommy makeover is a combination of cosmetic procedures with the goal of restoring a woman to pre-pregnancy form. As Katina Goshtasby of Newport Plastic Surgery explains, this isn’t a shortcut to a better body; after the physical, hormonal, and lifestyle changes of pregnancy, no amount of diet or exercise can achieve the goals many women want in Newport Beach. Mommy makeover procedures target several areas of the body. When deemed safe by a qualified professional, all procedures can be performed at one time under anesthesia.

What if I just exercise three hours a day?

While it’s advisable for clients to be in good health by exercising, no amount of pull-ups or time on the elliptical can completely reverse the physical effects of a pregnancy. Goshtasby explains that some women have a procedure called “corseting” done along with a tummy tuck to counteract the Diastasis—or separation—of the abdominal muscles. This condition simply cannot be repaired with extensive exercise and dieting. However, the ideal patient for abdominoplasty is someone with a balanced diet and exercise regimen to insure long-lasting results.

Clients may also find that they can’t lose the last bit of thickness around their waist, or they’re encountering trouble spots in certain areas. A mommy makeover from a Newport Beach specialist can include a liposuction procedure to target specific regions of unwanted fat. As an informed fitness expert would tell you, “spot reduction” is simply not possible through exercise.

What are the procedures in a mommy makeover?

A reputable Newport Beach plastic surgeon will help you decide which operations you need, and whether it is safe for you to be put under anesthesia. Some people can’t have too much anesthesia and it’s simply not worth the risk. Patients that can safely handle it can have, in a single session, an abdominoplasty, liposuction, brachioplasty and breast augmentation. Newport Beach clients can effectively return to pre-pregnancy form with one fell swoop.

Am I ready for a mommy makeover?

Before you go under the knife, it’s important that you aren’t lactating or breast feeding. Under no circumstances can you be exposed to anesthesia while nursing. A qualified surgeon will work with you to determine if you’re physically ready for the procedures.

A Hermiston plastic surgeon can offer many surgical and non-surgical techniques for all patients who wants to look and feel their best.

The adage, “looks aren’t everything,” holds a lot of truth, and people shouldn’t wrap up their happiness in outer appearances. However, age, heredity, and the environment may make us a little uncomfortable about the way we look. Sometimes a little alteration to make us feel better can change our lives for the better. If you’ve ever thought about seeing a Hermiston plastic surgeon, here are a few things to consider.

What should I look for in a plastic surgeon?
Dr. Richard Flaiz, of E.N.T. Facial Plastic and Laser Center, says one important quality to look for is the Hermiston plastic surgeon’s qualifications. Is the doctor board certified in the area where the procedure will be performed? How much experience doing the type of surgery you’re looking for does she or he have? Another thing is to feel comfortable with the person you choose.

What kind of results can I expect?
Dr. Flaiz says that for many of his Rhinoplasty (surgically changing the appearance of the outside of the nose) patients, it can be life-changing. Before undertaking any surgical procedure, he offers a free consultation with his patients to discuss what their motivations are and their expectations to ensure that they are realistic. “It’s important to know what can and cannot be done.” For patients wanting a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), a Hermiston plastic surgeon can takes years off their appearance. But, the surgery cannot make a sixty-year-old eye look like a twenty-year-old one.

Is surgery the only method for improving my appearance?
The trend in facial plastic surgery, according to Dr. Flaiz, is toward less, rather than more, surgery, and this also applies to face lifts. There are many non-surgical procedures patients can opt for. When a person’s face starts to droop, this is due to volume loss. Many Hermiston plastic surgeons, Dr. Flaiz included, can offer patients derma fillers which are injections used to replace volume. Other skin improving methods Dr. Flaiz offers include microdermabrasion and fractional laser resurfacing that can minimize scars, brown spots, and blood vessels.

Having a healthy self-image is important. Sometimes, looking better can lead to feeling better, but this is not always possible to do without a little help. Before making any decisions about altering your appearance, consult a Hermiston plastic surgeon.

For more information about his services and what your options are, you can contact Dr. Flaiz at E.N.T. Facial Plastic and Laser Center.

If you or your child is experiencing difficulties, you can contact Dr. Flaiz for an appointment.

Skin type and age are not nearly as important in determining the results of a face lift procedure as other factors, such as the skill of the physician and the quality of the medical spa where the procedure is taking place.

Skin type and age are not nearly as important in determining the results of a face lift procedure as other factors, such as the skill of the physician and the quality of the medical spa where the procedure is taking place. According to Dr. Asher Carey of Carey Medispa in Dover, face lift candidates come in all shapes and sizes.

Specifically, Dr. Carey says that he has done face lift procedures on some younger individuals who were aging prematurely. Most of these younger patients were able to get the results they were looking for with non-surgical methods of skin tightening. These methods often involve the injection of certain fillers or Botox. When the time comes and a woman decides that she is tired of her face looking saggy or wrinkly, Dr. Carey says she should not be concerned that her age could rule her out from being considered a good candidate for some of today’s most popular face lift techniques.

Rather than focusing on age, Dr. Carey recommends that people focus on whether there are any other ways to improve their faces through re-sculpting. He says the procedures and operations that plastic surgeons are offering these days are gearing toward relocating facial fat. Facial fat naturally drifts down over the jaw as men and women age, and the best way to re-structure that fat is by bringing it back up into the face with a face lift in Dover. This process gives the cheeks a more youthful fullness, and it reshapes the face from what would basically be a square into more of an inverted cone or a heart shape.

Physicians like Dr. Carey are making fantastic strides in developing face lift techniques in Dover that can move fat around the face to bring out the cheekbones. Additionally, a surgeon may remove excess skin when necessary to achieve the look that the patient desires. This process leads to a more natural looking result than those seen with face lifts in the past, when tension was placed on the skin that caused distortion to the mouth and the eyes.

A woman getting a face lift in Dover today can expect that her result will be far more natural looking than a woman undergoing a similar procedure just one or two decades prior. By relying on facial fillers and Botox to bring youth back into the face, surgeons are eliminating the need to “pull” certain sections to achieve a taut look.

The decision to pursue plastic surgery is not one you make lightly; it requires a big leap of faith.

The decision to pursue plastic surgery is not one you make lightly; it requires a big leap of faith. You don’t want to work with just any Torrance, CA plastic surgeon. You want to work with the best.

According to Torrance, CA plastic surgeon Linda Swanson, MD, not every plastic surgeon is equally qualified, and it’s important to do some homework before you make your decision.

Certifications and Memberships

As you search for a Torrance, CA plastic surgeon, begin by considering only those doctors who are certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. And the “gold standard,” Dr. Swanson says, for plastic surgeons who perform cosmetic procedures is membership in The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Founded in 1967, ASAPS is the leading professional organization of plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who specialize in cosmetic plastic surgery.

Experience and Specialty

While a plastic surgeon’s training is certainly important, Dr. Swanson believes that his or her experience, length of time in practice and number of cases speak more specifically to the quality of his or her work.

“Every time you perform a particular surgery, you get better at it,” she says. “So the more experience you have, the better your results. Ask how long a surgeon has been practicing and which types of procedures he or she performs most often, and make sure the surgeon has successfully performed your procedure many times in the past.”

Portfolio

“Before” and “after” photos are great ways to get a sense of a particular surgeon’s work. Are previous patients’ results consistent with the kind of look you’re interested in? Does the finished work look natural and aesthetically pleasing? If a doctor’s previous work doesn’t appeal to you, there’s no reason to believe that your results will be better.

Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff

A surgeon’s staff will play an important role in your overall patient experience. “The staff is the doctor’s representative,” Dr. Swanson explains. “It’s important to feel comfortable with the staff and to establish a positive relationship. You don’t want to feel as though no one knows who you are. You want to feel welcomed and cared for.”

If you’re looking for a well-qualified, skilled and experienced plastic surgeon in Torrance, CA, Dr. Swanson and her team provide the attentive, high-quality care you deserve. One of South Bay’s leaders in the field of cosmetic surgery, Dr. Swanson produces excellent results for her patients by combining the skills of an expert with the perspective of a woman.

A majority of American men will deal with some degree of hair loss as they age. Bakersfield hair surgery specialist Kenneth Siporin, MD, explains that while non-surgical treatments for hair loss are available, they all have their limitations. At Beautologie in Bakersfield, hair surgery offers a permanent, natural-looking solution to hair loss.

Here, Dr. Siporin explains your options for treating hair loss and how to determine whether hair transplant surgery is right for you.

Treatments for Hair Loss

If you’re concerned about thinning hair, there are some non-surgical ways to slow or temporarily stop your hair loss. Originally created to treat high blood pressure, a topical medication called Rogaine can be used to temporarily halt hair loss. In some individuals, it can even promote hair re-growth. While Rogaine can be quite effective, it must be used continuously. When the medication is discontinued, any hair that the medication has been preserving will be lost.

Propecia (a pill that is taken daily) can also help some patients re-grow hair at the crown and improve hair thickness. Like Rogaine, Propecia must be taken continuously in order to maintain your results. And like all medications, Rogaine and Propecia have been associated with side effects that should be discussed with your physician.

Hair Transplantation

Unlike medications, hair transplant surgery offers a permanent solution to hair loss. This procedure involves harvesting hair from a donor area (usually the back of the head) and transplanting it to those areas where noticeable thinning has occurred. Thanks to advanced techniques, today’s hair transplant surgery offers excellent, natural-looking results with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Are You a Good Candidate?

In general, the best candidates for hair transplant surgery are healthy individuals with enough hair in the donor area(s) to harvest for transplantation. But the best way to determine whether hair transplantation is right with you is to meet with a doctor, says Dr. Siporin.

“It’s important to have a conversation about a patient’s goals and to help him understand the kind of results he can expect. Whether someone is a good candidate is all about matching a patient’s expectations with what is achievable for him.”

At Beautologie in Bakersfield, hair surgery begins with a consultation. During this meeting, Dr. Siporin takes the time to listen to your goals and concerns, answer your questions, and walk you step by step through the procedure, from surgery to recovery and beyond. If you’re ready to regain your youthful hairline and the confidence that comes with it, hair surgery at Bakersfield’s Beautologie may be the answer.

By the age of 35, approximately two out of every three American men will experience some degree of hair loss.

By the age of 35, approximately two out of every three American men will experience some degree of hair loss. And by the age of 50, about 85 percent of men will have experienced significant thinning. Bakersfield laser hair transplant specialist Kenneth Siporin, MD, explains that while there may be some things you can do to temporarily slow hair loss, even popular FDA-approved medications like Propecia and Rogaine have their limitations. At Beautologie in Bakersfield, laser hair transplant surgery offers a permanent solution to hair loss.

Traditional Hair Transplantation vs. Follicular Unit Extraction

There are two primary types of hair replacement surgery – a procedure commonly referred to as the “strip method” and a newer procedure called follicular unit extraction (FUE).

For years, hair transplantation has been performed using hair from a strip of skin that is removed from back of the patient’s head (the “donor” area). While this procedure produces good results, it results in a linear scar across the back of the head, which is visible when the head is shaved or the hair cut very short.

FUE, Dr. Siporin explains, represents a breakthrough in hair transplantation. FUE is performed using a small round instrument to remove hair follicles one at a time. FUE can be used to harvest the same amount of hair as can be harvested via a strip procedure, but leaves behind no visible scar. While FUE is more time-consuming than strip-method hair transplant surgery, it provides excellent results and allows patients to wear their hair as they wish – even very short – without worrying about telltale scarring.

The disadvantages of FUE are relatively short-term. In order to harvest hair from the donor area, the surgeon must first shave that area of the head. This means that after the procedure, the patient will likely want to shave the rest of his hair or will have to contend for a while with uneven hair lengths. Overall, however, recovery from FUE is much easier than from a strip method procedure. There are no stitches to remove and no incisions to become infected, so patients are more comfortable and able to return to normal activities more quickly.

You should look for the following qualities when searching for a cosmetic surgeon: experience, knowledge, training, equipment, and artistic skill.

When you are considering permanent improvements to your face or body it is important to find the right Honolulu cosmetic surgeon, one who will make you feel comfortable with the procedure and confident about the results. Before surgery you will probably have many questions about pain, cost, results, and safety, which is why you should look for a surgeon who will give you answers and alleviate your fears before you undergo a cosmetic procedure. Dr. Gregory Herbich of the Cosmetic & Laser Surgery Center says that his patients’ most common concern is whether or not the procedure will hurt. Because each surgery and patient is different, Dr. Herbich offers different options for pain control; from topical anesthetic to local anesthetic to sedation and even general anesthesia, whichever the patient is most comfortable with.

In addition to finding someone who will answer your questions, the Honolulu cosmetic surgeon recommends that you look for the following qualities in your surgeon:

Experience

Knowledge

Training

Equipment

Artistic skill

The last quality—artistic skill—is demonstrable in a Honolulu cosmetic surgeon’s before and after pictures, and will help you determine if what you’re trying to achieve artistically is something the surgeon knows how to do or is capable of doing.

Dr. Herbich also warns that there are certain things you want to avoid when looking for a cosmetic surgeon in Honolulu. Number one is that you should probably avoid a surgeon who does the same operation on everyone and doesn’t tailor it to your needs. Number two is that you should avoid a doctor that doesn’t keep up with the latest non-surgical alternatives and at least explain them to you before your procedure. And number three is that you have to be very careful around a cosmetic surgeon that’s too slick at sales. For example, says Dr. Herbich, “if a surgeon pulls your face up with his fingers and tells you you’re going to look like that, it’s not possible to achieve that surgically,” and you should wonder why he’s trying to sell you a procedure in that manner.

Confidentiality is another common concern when you’re considering a cosmetic procedure from a Honolulu cosmetic surgeon. Although Dr. Herbich says there are exceptions, patients that are not shy and will tell everybody they’ve had these things done, most of them “want to look good without their husband or their friends knowing what they did to look good.” Most importantly, they don’t want to be discussed by their surgeon in a conversation with their friends or with a future patient. Dr. Herbich says he maintains patient confidentiality by telling patients who ask about a specific person that he doesn’t know that person or he’s not able to talk about what he did. “It’s a big taboo,” says Dr. Herbich, “and I’ll tell them sometimes, if you want to know what somebody’s got, just go buy Star magazine and they’ll talk about that. I’m not here to entertain you; I’m here to make you look better.”

Before you undergo breast augmentation surgery, it is important to consult an experienced cosmetic surgeon to understand the augmentation process as well as the risks and benefits.

Choosing to physically alter your appearance is not a decision that comes easily to most people, especially when elective surgery is involved. But when you are unhappy with the look or size of your breasts, breast augmentation surgery is a popular option to consider. There is a lot of information to be aware of before you make the decision to undergo surgery for breast augmentation in Honolulu, and it is important to consult a Honolulu cosmetic surgeon to understand the augmentation process as well as the risks and benefits.

The Surgery: Breast Lift vs. Breast Augmentation

Dr. Gregory Herbich of the Cosmetic & Laser Surgery Center says that in order to minimize scarring, his office typically will do breast augmentation through the bellybutton with a procedure called Transumbilical Breast Augmentation or TUBA. “I’m pretty happy with that procedure,” says Dr. Herbich, “because it seems to be less painful than the other ways to do it and of course there are no scars on the breasts; and if you have to remove the implants the breasts still look normal.” He says breast lift operations may differ from straight augmentation using the TUBA surgery when there’s too much skin or if a patient would prefer to achieve lift without an implant. In the case of excess skin, Dr. Herbich typically would place an implant and then excise skin around the nipples in order to reduce scarring on the breasts. If a patient wants to achieve lift without an implant, the result from breast lift around the nipple is not quite as good, says Dr. Herbich, “for those patients we do a more traditional mastoplasty with a lollipop or anchor-shaped scar.”

The Initial Consultation

The Honolulu breast augmentation surgeon says that he spends a lot of time discussing sizing during the initial consultation because if the patient is unhappy with their breast size after augmentation surgery, more surgery would be required to correct the problem. Dr. Herbich also makes sure his patients are in good health and that they are well-aware that breast augmentation surgery requires the same precautions as any other surgery: Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen two weeks prior and do not eat or drink the day of. Patients are also given written instructions and consent forms that they can take home and read so that they have all the information necessary to make informed decisions.

The Risks

Risks associated with Honolulu breast augmentation surgery are a little different from those associated with breast lifts, says Dr. Herbich, in that there is a foreign body there, so the main additional risk is increased possibility for infection and hardening of the breast. In general, complications from surgery are “not common, but not rare either,” according to Dr. Herbich. The risks may include: Scarring, bleeding, infection, capsular contracture—hardening from scar tissue that forms around the implant, pain following surgery, rupture/deflation of a saline implant, rupture of a silicone gel implant, altered nipple sensitivity, changes in nipple direction, increased droopiness of the breasts, and stretch marks. Some of the complications can lead to additional risks and others can be treated with additional cosmetic procedures, which is why it’s important to consult a highly-qualified Honolulu cosmetic surgeon who will be with you through the whole process.

The Recovery

Breasts usually look pretty good about a week after implant surgery, but full recovery usually takes about six weeks and Dr. Herbich recommends not returning to full exercise until that time. The recovery time for breast lift surgery is similar, at around four to six weeks.
