Men and women who suffer from genetic hair loss may not be able to prevent losing hair, but they can take preventative steps to avoid baldness. According to Dr. Paul Glat of Dr. Glat Neograft in Philadelphia, hair replacement procedures can be performed long before a person has gone completely bald.

In fact, popular hair restoration procedures like Neograft – a treatment done using a method known as follicular unit extraction – are actually easier to do when patients are still at the earliest stages of hair loss. Dr. Glat says it is generally more difficult to treat a patient with severe hair loss, compared to a person who has only just begun losing hair at his temples or the back of his head.

For these reasons, and many more, Dr. Glat recommends that men and women who think they may be interested in hair replacement in Philadelphia come into his office early. In some cases, patients who schedule a visit with the physician early enough may be able to avoid surgical hair restoration, at least temporarily, in favor of topical creams or medications. Dr. Glat says there are topical products and certain medications that can slow down or halt the process of genetic hair loss, and some people have had success delaying their hair loss by continuing to take these medications over a long period of time.

Additionally, Dr. Glat says he knows of some people who have used lasers or light treatments to prevent hair loss. Although special lasers and lighting equipment have not been medically proven to help re-grow natural hair, Dr. Glat says there are reports that these types of treatments may be able to help with some patients.

The only sure-fire way to treat a patient at the earliest stages of hair loss is with hair replacement in Philadelphia. Dr. Glat recommends starting with smaller transplant procedures, and holding off on any large procedures until the time is right. One of the nice things about small hair restoration procedures is that they leave no visible scars. Men are far more likely to be willing to undergo hair replacement in Philadelphia when they find out that they will not have to walk around with any type of scarring afterward, since this makes it easier for these patients to stay incognito about the procedure that was just performed.

For more information on hair replacement procedures in Philadelphia, and to find out if you may be considered a good candidate for Neograft in particular, Dr. Glat recommends contacting his office directly.

When it comes to treating men suffering from hair loss, Dr. Paul Glat of Dr. Glat Neograft says there is no better option than surgical hair restoration. Specifically, Dr. Glat recommends that patients in Philadelphia try Neograft to get the best results possible in the shortest amount of time.

Patients who walk into Dr. Glat’s office almost uniformly say they want a “natural” look. What looks natural to one person may look unnatural to another, however Dr. Glat has been a practicing physician for long enough to know how to decipher the requests of his patients and get them the final results they achieve.

Among the surgical hair restoration techniques available to give men a natural look, Dr. Glat says none are more popular in Philadelphia than Neograft. Neograft, which is a method of hair restoration that utilizes follicular unit extraction, gives men the best possible results with the shortest amount of downtime. Another benefit to Neograft in Philadelphia, which other surgical hair restoration options cannot offer, is minimal scarring.

Neograft, for people who have never heard of the procedure before, is a hair restoration treatment that Dr. Glat performs using a special machine. The most important thing for people to know about Neograft in Philadelphia is that they can have the procedure done with very minimal scarring, because there is no cutting involved. This means there is less pain and less downtime after the treatment is done. Dr. Glat is able to get perfect grafts every time when he uses Neograft, and he says the take rate is exceptionally good.

Men who say they cannot afford to take off work or spend much time recovering at home will almost always request Neograft in Philadelphia because of how quickly the recovery process can be. At most, men who undergo this procedure can expect to have swelling in the area where their grafts were taken out, however this swelling lasts for a very short time. Most people are back on their feet and at work within a few short days. Some men will need to have hair shaved off of the backs of their heads, but Dr. Glat says this shaved area can usually be covered up with longer hair nearby.

Hair restoration patients want as much done in one procedure as possible, and they want to make sure they are getting the biggest bang for their buck. When it comes to hair restoration, Dr. Glat says there is no procedure better suited for delivering these types of results than Neograft.

Hair restoration is a medical procedure that can help both men and women feel better about the way they look.

Virtually anyone suffering from hair loss can be considered a candidate for surgical hair restoration, explains Dr. Paul Glat of Dr. Glat Neograft in Philadelphia. Hair restoration is a medical procedure that can help both men and women feel better about the way they look. Whether or not someone can truly be considered a good candidate for hair restoration in Philadelphia will depend on how much hair the person has and what his or her goals are for the procedure.

The amount of hair that a patient has remaining on his head will play a role in determining whether he is qualified to undergo hair restoration in Philadelphia, because patients do need a certain amount of hair remaining at the donor site to do the transfer. Dr. Glat says he can perform surgical hair restoration on people who are totally bald, however that treatment is a bit challenging from a medical perspective. Dr. Glat goes on to explain, thankfully almost everyone has some donor site that can be used to gather the amount of hair necessary for the transfer.

The second factor that Dr. Glat says must be taken into account is what the patient’s goals are for the procedure. It is important to work with a physician who is skilled and experienced in the art of surgical hair restoration, since working with a lesser-skilled physician can give people a false sense of hope with regard to what the outcome of their procedures will be.

Certain types of balding patterns or hair loss can make surgical hair restoration more challenging on the part of the physician, however Dr. Glat says that doesn’t mean the procedure is impossible. Typically men with male pattern baldness – a condition that is marked by a receding hairline at the temples, as well as a bald spot at the back of the head – do very well with surgical hair restoration.

It can be somewhat more challenging to treat men who have a female pattern of baldness, which is when the hair gets very thin throughout the head. That can be a challenge for the physician because it makes it impossible to focus on one single area – exponentially increasing the scope of the treatment. Additionally, Dr. Glat says it can be difficult to perform hair restoration procedures on patients who have waited too long to come in. This would include men who have hairlines that are very, very far back on their foreheads. Trying to create a normal frontal hairline when there is not one there can be very difficult.

For more information on hair restoration in Philadelphia, Dr. Glat encourages people to contact his office directly.

At the Avanti Skin Center of Denver, manager and registered nurse Katherine Golden says many people have a misunderstanding about what laser hair removal feels like and how long it takes to work.

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic treatment that is still misunderstood by the public. At the Avanti Skin Center of Denver, manager and registered nurse Katherine Golden says many people have a misunderstanding about what laser hair removal feels like and how long it takes to work.

What more and more people are beginning to figure out is that laser hair removal in Denver is much more comfortable that waxing. Golden explains that waxing is the cosmetic treatment most people go to first when they start thinking about hair removal on their arms, legs, and bikini areas because it seems to be cheaper up front. However, waxing is not an answer to the problem of unwanted hair growth. Hair that is waxed will grow back over time, and the costs associated with waxing will never decrease.

Laser hair removal in Denver is actually an answer to the problem of unwanted hair. Laser hair removal destroys the ways the hair root grows. As a result, the hair continues to get thinner and finer until it is 85% to 90% reduced. Golden says that laser hair removal will rarely eliminate 100% of the hair in a specific area, however patients can work toward that goal with additional laser treatments.

Another major fallacy about laser hair removal in Denver is the idea that it hurts or causes pain. On the contrary, Golden says the technologies used at Avanti Skin Center of Denver actually have cooling devices built in. These cooling devices ensure that patients do not need any topical anesthesia, and they don’t need to sit in the office for 30 minutes prior to their treatments while a numbing cream gets applied.

Instead, the professionals at Avanti Skin Center of Denver use special laser hair removal equipment with cold tips. Golden says her equipment has contact sapphire and copper cooling, as well as cold jelly and cold rolling devices, to eliminate the discomfort that is sometimes associated with laser hair removal. The cold tips that Golden and her technicians use serve the same purpose as anesthesia, but with far fewer downsides and no side effects.

Another bonus for patients visiting Avanti Skin Center of Denver for laser hair removal in Denver is that the staff at the center uses two laser hair removal handpieces. If a patient gets stalled out at one wavelength, then Golden says one of her technicians can pop another handpiece in and use that instead. This is yet another benefit that only Avanti Skin Center of Denver can provide.

While men and women often have a lot of questions about laser hair reduction, it can be an effective treatment if they're willing to commit to it.

The best candidate for laser hair removal is a patient who wants this treatment and is determined to see it through to completion, regardless of skin type or hair color. According to Dr. Carter G. Abel, M.D., at Abel Dermatology in Annadale, laser hair reduction usually requires multiple sessions, and people need to be aware of what to expect before coming in for their first treatments.

Despite the time and energy involved with laser hair reduction in Annadale, Dr. Abel emphasizes that this is a cosmetic treatment that can provide people with excellent results. Adults who are dedicated and prepared for what to expect generally report high levels of satisfaction after undergoing laser hair removal.

Dr. Abel goes on to explain that the best candidates for laser hair reduction in Annadale are adult men and women with light skin color and dark hair. The more contrast between the skin and the hair, the easier it is for the laser to work efficiently.

Of course, this does not means that people with light skin and light hair or dark skin and dark hair will not respond to laser hair reduction in Annadale. Rather, Dr. Abel says people with less contrast between their skin and hair will usually need to go through more treatment sessions to achieve the final result. Dedication is the key to success for people undergoing laser hair removal – especially for people with light hair and light skin who are thinking about going through this procedure.

Most people who opt to go through laser hair removal in Annadale will undergo between four and six treatments before reaching their goal, which is usually zero hair on whatever area of the body is being treated. Getting to this goal can take anywhere from four to eight months, given that the average adult hair removal patient at Dr. Abel’s practice returns for treatment sessions once every four to six weeks.

One of the biggest fallacies about laser hair reduction is that the treatment is extremely painful. Dr. Abel reveals the truth behind this myth by explaining that laser hair removal usually feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. While this sensation can feel mildly uncomfortable, it is a far cry from the pain that most people fear. Patients who feel especially anxious about undergoing laser hair removal can use a special cream that numbs the skin beforehand, however they will need to discuss that option with their provider before arriving for their introductory appointment.

No matter your age, excess hair growth in all the places where you don’t want it can be uncomfortable and unattractive.

No matter your age, excess hair growth in all the places where you don’t want it can be uncomfortable and unattractive. You don’t want your self-esteem to slide down a slippery slope because you’re a woman with upper lip hair or a man with too much hair on your back. People that suffer from excess hair growth may be embarrassed by their condition, but they don’t have to be. Hinsdale laser hair removal expert Dr. Christina Steil of Steil Dermatology provides insight as to how you can conquer your problem in order to avoid a hairy situation, literally.

Young girls may suffer from seemingly unmanageable upper lip hair growth. Older women may have inconsistent and unruly hormonal hair problems, like dark, coarse hairs underneath the chin. When these patients choose Hinsdale laser hair removal, there are many different lasers that can be used by the doctor during the procedure. The general rule is that people cannot be tanned and the hair has to be dark. These are the best candidates for the procedure – those with lighter skin and darker hair. Dr. Steil is such a professional that she firmly believes that if a potential client could better be served by a dermatologist with more appropriate lasers – suitable for African American skin, for example – then she will refer the patient elsewhere. She will choose the care plan that is most appropriate for the patient, and this means not hesitating to refer the patient to a colleague.

Hinsdale laser hair removal is so common now that people don’t question its efficacy. The standard course of treatment involves 6 to 12 visits, with about one month between each visit. They call it significant hair reduction. The likelihood is that on the armpits, bikini areas, and legs, the hair won’t return again. But with hormonally dependent areas, like the back for men or the chin and the cheeks for women, people may need occasional touch ups. The hair will be thinner and grow slower, but it still may require attention.

In preparation for your Hinsdale laser hair removal procedure, you should not tan, wax, or pluck the area that will be worked on. But Dr. Steil does recommend that you shave it the day before your treatment. As Hinsdale laser hair removal isn’t invasive, the side effects are very limited and the recovery will be as smooth as your skin.

A majority of American men will deal with some degree of hair loss as they age.

A majority of American men will deal with some degree of hair loss as they age. Bakersfield hair surgery specialist Kenneth Siporin, MD, explains that while non-surgical treatments for hair loss are available, they all have their limitations. At Beautologie in Bakersfield, hair surgery offers a permanent, natural-looking solution to hair loss.

Here, Dr. Siporin explains your options for treating hair loss and how to determine whether hair transplant surgery is right for you.

Treatments for Hair Loss

If you’re concerned about thinning hair, there are some non-surgical ways to slow or temporarily stop your hair loss. Originally created to treat high blood pressure, a topical medication called Rogaine can be used to temporarily halt hair loss. In some individuals, it can even promote hair re-growth. While Rogaine can be quite effective, it must be used continuously. When the medication is discontinued, any hair that the medication has been preserving will be lost.

Propecia (a pill that is taken daily) can also help some patients re-grow hair at the crown and improve hair thickness. Like Rogaine, Propecia must be taken continuously in order to maintain your results. And like all medications, Rogaine and Propecia have been associated with side effects that should be discussed with your physician.

Hair Transplantation

Unlike medications, hair transplant surgery offers a permanent solution to hair loss. This procedure involves harvesting hair from a donor area (usually the back of the head) and transplanting it to those areas where noticeable thinning has occurred. Thanks to advanced techniques, today’s hair transplant surgery offers excellent, natural-looking results with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Are You a Good Candidate?

In general, the best candidates for hair transplant surgery are healthy individuals with enough hair in the donor area(s) to harvest for transplantation. But the best way to determine whether hair transplantation is right with you is to meet with a doctor, says Dr. Siporin.

“It’s important to have a conversation about a patient’s goals and to help him understand the kind of results he can expect. Whether someone is a good candidate is all about matching a patient’s expectations with what is achievable for him.”

At Beautologie in Bakersfield, hair surgery begins with a consultation. During this meeting, Dr. Siporin takes the time to listen to your goals and concerns, answer your questions, and walk you step by step through the procedure, from surgery to recovery and beyond. If you’re ready to regain your youthful hairline and the confidence that comes with it, hair surgery at Bakersfield’s Beautologie may be the answer.

By the age of 35, approximately two out of every three American men will experience some degree of hair loss.

By the age of 35, approximately two out of every three American men will experience some degree of hair loss. And by the age of 50, about 85 percent of men will have experienced significant thinning. Bakersfield laser hair transplant specialist Kenneth Siporin, MD, explains that while there may be some things you can do to temporarily slow hair loss, even popular FDA-approved medications like Propecia and Rogaine have their limitations. At Beautologie in Bakersfield, laser hair transplant surgery offers a permanent solution to hair loss.

Traditional Hair Transplantation vs. Follicular Unit Extraction

There are two primary types of hair replacement surgery – a procedure commonly referred to as the “strip method” and a newer procedure called follicular unit extraction (FUE).

For years, hair transplantation has been performed using hair from a strip of skin that is removed from back of the patient’s head (the “donor” area). While this procedure produces good results, it results in a linear scar across the back of the head, which is visible when the head is shaved or the hair cut very short.

FUE, Dr. Siporin explains, represents a breakthrough in hair transplantation. FUE is performed using a small round instrument to remove hair follicles one at a time. FUE can be used to harvest the same amount of hair as can be harvested via a strip procedure, but leaves behind no visible scar. While FUE is more time-consuming than strip-method hair transplant surgery, it provides excellent results and allows patients to wear their hair as they wish – even very short – without worrying about telltale scarring.

The disadvantages of FUE are relatively short-term. In order to harvest hair from the donor area, the surgeon must first shave that area of the head. This means that after the procedure, the patient will likely want to shave the rest of his hair or will have to contend for a while with uneven hair lengths. Overall, however, recovery from FUE is much easier than from a strip method procedure. There are no stitches to remove and no incisions to become infected, so patients are more comfortable and able to return to normal activities more quickly.

Hair loss can have devastating effects on your self-esteem.

Hair loss can have devastating effects on your self-esteem. But according to Bakersfield hair transplant specialist Kenneth Siporin, MD, of Beautologie, help is available. For Dr. Siporin’s patients in Bakersfield, hair transplants offer the opportunity to regain a more youthful look and the confidence that comes with it. Here, Dr. Siporin offers advice for choosing a hair replacement specialist for your procedure.

Technical Skill

Perhaps your most important consideration when choosing a hair replacement specialist should be the doctor’s technical skill. Like any surgery, a hair transplant requires a certain amount of manual dexterity, in-depth understanding of anatomy, and extensive knowledge related to the procedure itself. This type of skill can only be developed through training and experience.

Ethical Integrity

As important as technical skill is, it’s not the only factor you should consider when choosing a hair replacement surgeon. Hair replacement is a highly competitive field, Dr. Siporin explains, and requires a fair amount of trust on the part of the patient.

“The patient must be able to trust not only that the surgeon will perform the surgery well, but also that the surgeon is going to follow the plan that you’ve agreed upon, be diligent in his work, and conduct himself according to high ethical standards. Equally important is that the surgeon has a staff that is dedicated to the success of your surgery.”

Compassion

Because one enters into hair transplant surgery with certain fears and expectations, it’s important to choose a surgeon who will treat you with respect and compassion. Do you feel as though the surgeon is really listening to your concerns? Have you had the opportunity to ask questions? Has the surgeon explained the process in detail? And do you have a clear understanding of the results you can expect? You should feel as though your surgeon is willing to partner with you to achieve the results you’re looking for, from your first consultation through your procedure and follow-up visits.

“You can get a good sense of how caring and compassionate the doctor will be during your consultation,” says Dr. Siporin. “Some patients won’t even see the doctor – they’ll see a consultant or a patient advisor. That may or may not be helpful in choosing a surgeon, but it’s not the way I prefer to do things.”

Hair Transplants in Bakersfield

Wih over 12 years of experience, more than 3000 cases and an uncompromising commitment to achieving the best possible results for his patients, Dr. Siporin is Bakersfield’s hair transplant expert.

In order to maximize the results of your surgery, Dr. Siporin believes that open communication is key. Before you begin your procedure, Dr. Siporin and his staff will walk you step by step through the process – from surgery to recovery and beyond. And Dr. Siporin’s meticulous attention to detail ensures that you get the natural results you are looking for.

Benefits of NeoGraft Over Linear Strip Harvesting

Many patients complained that hair restoration was painful and left too many scars on the backs of their heads. Now that physicians are using NeoGraft, all that has changed.

The NeoGraft hair restoration technique is a dramatic improvement over how physicians once handled hair restorations for balding men. According to Philadelphia hair restoration expert Dr. Paul M. Glat, NeoGraft is as different as night and day when compared to the older strip harvesting techniques that some physicians still use.

With the strip technique, a physician must cut large strips out of his patient’s scalp in order to get the hair for transplantation. After harvesting these large linear strips, the physician would then stitch the scalp closed and the patient would have to wait for his head to heal. As a result, many patients complained that hair restoration in Philadelphia was painful and said it left too many scars on the backs of their heads. Now that physicians like Dr. Glat are using NeoGraft, however, all that has changed.

The Philadelphia hair restoration expert explains that with NeoGraft, he can take out the hair on a patient’s head one follicle at a time or one follicular unit at a time, in medical terms. Dr. Glat is careful to point out that it is possible to remove hair from a patient’s head one follicle at a time without NeoGraft, however to do that process by hand would be very slow and it would be very inaccurate.

By using NeoGraft for hair restoration in Philadelphia, Dr. Glat can ensure that almost every graft he takes from a patient’s scalp will have almost the same amount of tissue in it. The grafts that physicians can take with NeoGraft are almost perfect grafts, and they are ready to be put right back into the head without any manipulation on the part of the physician. Patients who are concerned with scarring almost universally prefer NeoGraft over linear strip harvesting because there is virtually no scarring by the time a physician is finished with the hair restoration. In Philadelphia, Dr. Glat says these excellent results cannot be achieved in any other way.

As far as recovery is concerned, Dr. Glat says most of his patients return to work just a few days after their hair restoration procedures in Philadelphia. Patients who undergo hair restoration using the NeoGraft technique instead of linear strip harvesting can expect much less swelling, bruising, or pain in the days and weeks following their procedures.

While Dr. Glat would not recommend that patients wash their hair aggressively for at least seven days following their hair restorations, he says a gentle wash is fine a day or two after the procedure is complete. It is important that patients do not wash their heads immediately after their restoration procedures because the new grafts should not be disturbed while they are starting to heal in place.

Because NeoGraft does not involve any cutting of the scalp, patients report far less pain and many go back to work very quickly after their procedures are complete.
