If you’re considering plastic surgery, it is important to know that the surgeon you choose is well qualified to perform your surgery, and thus able to effectively achieve the results you are seeking.

If you’re considering plastic surgery, it is important to know that the surgeon you choose is well qualified to perform your surgery, and thus able to effectively achieve the results you are seeking. According to David Liland, M.D., not every cosmetic surgeon is equally qualified. In fact, according to the Dallas plastic surgeon, if a doctor has not been board certified there is a good chance that the doctor does not possess the necessary experience to perform cosmetic surgery that will have the results you are looking for.

It is important then to note when choosing a doctor for your cosmetic surgery that the individual has been given the title of plastic surgeon. In terms of considering a cosmetic surgery for yourself, it is essential to understand the different types of procedures a plastic surgeon in Dallas can provide. According to Dr. Liland, there are seven basic procedures of cosmetic surgery. These procedures include but are not limited to:

face      lift

breast      augmentation

liposuction

tummy      tuck

breast      lift

breast      reduction

eye      lift

Of these seven basic procedures, Dr. Liland states liposuction and breast augmentation are the two procedures plastic surgeons perform most frequently. When you’re considering a plastic surgeon in Dallas, you’ll first want to review evidence of his surgical skill. While this task may seem difficult to gauge, observing the doctor’s own before and after photos can be very helpful and insightful into the results you can expect to see in your own surgery. Another great option the plastic surgeon in Dallas recommends is interviewing a former patient that underwent the same cosmetic surgery you’re considering. Doing so, you will be able to have a basic idea of what your surgery will entail. These two approaches towards considering cosmetic surgery from a specific plastic surgeon can provide you with a knowledgeable overview of the doctor you are reviewing. You’ll find that Dr. Liland’s skill, compassion and personal approach make your entire consultation and surgical process a low-stress, enjoyable experience. If considering utilizing a plastic surgeon to correct an imperfection, slim down, look younger or simply feel more confident, contact Dr. Liland for a personal consultation.

If you feel you consistently look angry, sad or tired, you could be a prime candidate for a browlift. Dr. Thomas Liszka has worked in the cosmetic plastic surgery business for 15 years, and runs his own business, Ballantyne Plastic Surgery, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, he talks about why a browlift could make you look fresher and more rejuvenated.

The reason why people want to have a browlift is because they feel their brow is too low. It should be above the bony rim of the eye socket. People will know if their brow has fallen quite easily if they can remember if they had had a higher brow when they were younger.

Sometimes people confuse excess skin on the upper eyelid with an eyelid problem, when sometimes the position of the brow affects the eyelid. You can have droopy and crêpey skin on the eyelid, but when you pick the brow up it completely goes away. This problem can be more on one side of the face than the other, as some people have asymmetry of the brow or the eyelid.

A browlift corrects the drooping brows by tightening the skin of the forehead and removing the muscles that cause frown lines between the brows and pull the brows down. There are two ways to do a browlift:

Endoscopic – Four of five small incisions are made within the hairline and a light source with a camera like a laparoscope – actually a fiberoptic scope with camera attached – is used. The procedure is thus done with the surgeon watching on a television monitor. With this one, you cut less skin away but use deeper tissues to reposition the brow.

Open brow lift – An incision is made that goes across the forehead or crown of the head, from the top of the ear on one side to the top of the ear on the other side. You are taking more of the skin away. It is usually used for patients who are older as there is more skin laxity, or for patients with particular brow asymmetry, as it is harder to get that even look with an endoscopic.

Another part of the procedure for any browlift is when you cut the corrugator muscles, as mentioned, which give you the frown lines between your brows. You do not want to have a permanently angry look, and those frown lines are also brow depressors, they pull the brow down again.

Easy Recovery

Recovery for a browlift is similar to a facelift, about seven to 10 days for the swelling and bruising to dissipate, and there should be no exercise for two weeks. Again, the operation is not too painful and is frequently carried out in conjunction with other procedures, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.

A dermatologist can also perform endoscopic brow lifts if you want a younger look in the face.

Two types of brow lifts may be performed — conventional-incision method and the endoscopic method. With the conventional-incision method, one incision is made, which reaches from one ear to the other ear across the forehead. Before the procedure is done, the hair is tied back and may even be cut near the spot where the incision will be made.

After the incision is made, the forehead is lifted and the excess skin is taken out and the muscles are either relocated or removed completely. Additional skin may be cut and the area will be stitched after the eyebrows are raised. The area is bandaged and the bandages are kept on for approximately two days. The stitches are usually removed within two weeks.

After the procedure the patient may have or feel:

Discomfort which is temporary and can be relived with medication

Bruising

Headache

Numbing and/or tingling

Swelling

Hair Loss

A dermatologist can also perform endoscopic brow lifts if you want a younger look in the face. The brow lift is used to reverse signs of aging in the forehead as well as the brow area. Lines between the nose and eyebrows can also be decreased during this procedure.

The procedure requires a surgical scope to make openings near the temples of the head. These slits are made near or in the hairline or in the fold of the upper eyelids. The muscles which cause the sagging of the eyelids are then eliminated or relocated to help decrease the sagging of the brow.

The endosopic eye brow lift requires little cutting and is the least invasive surgery for eye brow lifts. This is why this procedure leaves little scarring and bruising. And is no need for anesthesia during the endoscopic brow lift.

After the procedure the patient may have or feel:

Discomfort which is temporary and can be relived with medication

Bruising

Numbing and/or tingling

Swelling

Who is the Best Candidate for a Brow Lift?

The best candidates for a brow lift are the ones looking to improve their appearance. The eyebrows may have a sagging look either because of aging or even because of an inherited brow. Some people are born with eyebrows which naturally sag. These individuals look to lift the brows and decrease the surplus of skin which hangs on the eyelid.

Some patients are not only getting eyebrow lifts to reverse the signs of aging. Patients looking for brow lifts may also be looking to fix the symmetry of their brows as well as alter the shape of their eyebrows.

Many brow lift patients fall within the 40 to 70 year age range. Some candidates who are younger are looking for an easy solution to help their premature aging or their genetic eyebrows. The best candidates are healthy not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.

Benefits

The main reason why individuals consider a brow lift is to obviously lift their eyebrows. The brow lift will elevate your eyebrows but there are also other benefits. These benefits may include:

Decrease in wrinkles between eyebrows above nose area

Decrease in wrinkles and lines within forehead area

Improve proportion of eyebrows

The overall benefit is that your face regains a more youthful appearance. The appearance of your face also goes from sad or angry to happy and cheerful…at least when you are smiling! After your eyebrows are lifted, you will gain a new sense of self-esteem as you will feel much better about how you look.

Risks

As with any medical procedure, some risks may or may not come along with the surgery. These risks may include:

Infection of the stitched area

Inability to move the eyebrows or the forehead (this can be corrected with an additional procedure)

Permanent scars

Permanent hair loss

Permanent loss of feeling in the stitched area

Excessive bleeding

It has been noted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery that patients who undergo endoscopic lift experience less complications than conventional-incision patients with occurrence of fewer than one percent.

Also, additional surgeries or procedures may be needed depending on the results wanted by the patient. These surgeries or procedures may include neck lift, face lift, chemical peels or eyelid surgery.

As with any medical procedure it is best to consult your physician to understand all of the risks and benefits. Your medical doctor can also determine if you are among a better candidate for the brow lift procedure.

At a brow lift medical spa, you are presented with traditional day spa services as well as cosmetic surgery options from licensed medical doctors. A brow lift plastic surgeon may be on staff at your local medical spa to perform a forehead lift surgery should you so desire. You can refresh your appearance by eliminating frown lines, eyelids that droop and other affects of premature aging by electing to have a brow lift. Your eyelids will be raised. Wrinkles and lines in your forehead will be stretched out of existence. And a new, younger and more vibrant appearance will result.

Most people that decide to undergo these operations are between 40 and 50; however there are cases of patients being only 20 to 30 years of age.

Who are the candidates for brow lift surgeries?

Both women and men are candidates for brow lift surgeries. Most people that decide to undergo these operations are between 40 and 50; however there are cases of patients being only 20 to 30 years of age. Brow lifts, or forehead lifts, are rarely medically necessary. Rather, they are elective cosmetic surgeries most often solely for the purpose of appearance enhancement. If you are considering having a brow lift performed, then you should definitely schedule a consultation with an experienced brow lift plastic surgeon. Understand also that these procedures are often used in conjunction with face lifts and/or separate surgeries performed on the eyelids.

Let’s talk about the possible benefits available to you from a brow lift medical spa:

The benefits of the services provided by a brow lift plastic surgeon are quite significant. Patients report substantial increases in self-esteem and confidence levels. Further, your appearance can be enhanced by undergoing brow lift cosmetic surgery in the following ways:

No more drooping eyebrows;

Elimination of a chronically angry or fatigue-ridden appearance;

Ironed out lines on your forehead;

The elimination of sagging skin that has lost elasticity;

Deep eyebrow furrows are stretched away;

You will no longer appear to have eyelids that are too heavy to support;

A more youthful and happy facial appearance results;

Endoscopic brow lift surgery:

As compared with traditional brow lift surgeries, endoscopic brow lift surgery is far less invasive and also requires considerably less time for recovery. The best type for you can be discussed with your brow lift plastic surgeon. It really all depends on the amount of facial reconstruction that you desire or is necessary. As the procedure for an endoscopic brow lift is actually quite subtle as far as cosmetic surgeries go, patients experience few complications and generally report high levels of satisfaction.

Notes about brow lift medical spa services for men:

The brow lines of men sit lower than those of women. Many times, men have heavy, sagging eyebrows that can actually obstruct their vision – and cause other health considerations. For those reasons, brow lift surgeries are especially beneficial for men. Besides removing the obstruction from the path of vision, the entire look of a man’s face will be changed to bring about an appearance of freshened youth.

Possible complications and risks associated with brow lift cosmetic surgeries:

Any type of surgery or medical procedure involves risks. A brow lift medical spa has all of the technology, equipment and staff members necessary to ensure your safety as much as possible. Still, even though a forehead lift is considered to be quite safe indeed, there are still areas that need your consideration. Remember to discuss all questions and concerns with your brow lift plastic surgeon before ever committing to the procedure. Possible complications for brow lift surgeries include:

Undesirable reactions to anesthesia;

Infections and bleeding;

Swelling;

Hematoma;

Numbness in the forehead region;

Loss of hair near the incision site;

Risk for scarring;

Difficulty or inability moving the eyebrows;

Loss of sensation to the surfaces of the skin;

Don’t be afraid though, these possible complications associated with brow lift surgeries are quite rare indeed. The best thing to do if you are considering a forehead lift cosmetic surgery is to consult with the plastic surgeon on staff at the brow lift medical spa that you are considering. Always be open and frank about your questions and concerns. Leave nothing unanswered before you commit to this serious surgical procedure.

The information in the article is not intended to substitute for the medical expertise and advice of your health care provider. We encourage you to discuss any decisions about treatment or care an appropriate health care provider.

As men and women age, one of the first physical signs many begin to notice is sagging or wrinkling skin above the eyebrows and on the forehead. Years of skin damage due to sun, wind, and overall gravity can oftentimes result in frown lines across upper face and a heaviness in the eyebrows that can make people as young as 40 look more tired, angry, or sad than they actually are.

Despite hundreds of lotions and other products available on the market to correct the signs of aging, there is currently only one proven way to cure a sagging brow—by undergoing a brow lift procedure. Also known as a forehead lift, plastic surgeons performing the procedure can drastically change the overall look of a patient’s face in a matter of hours through a series of short incisions and endoscopic techniques used to erase the common signs of skin damage effecting millions of Americans.

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift is a minimally invasive procedure designed to remedy the creases that develop across the forehead with age. Although specific techniques are continually evolving, brow lifts performed by certified plastic surgeons most commonly involve a series of short incisions made above the hairline, beginning behind the ears. Once these incisions have been made, a trained physician will “lift” the forehead muscles, giving the face a tighter overall appearance.

Because medical technologies are evolving so rapidly, an increasing number of doctors are beginning to use new techniques such as coronal incisions or pre-trichial incisions rather than the more common hairline incision. Which specific technique is used in the procedure, however, is up to each patient and physician individually.

The majority of brow lifts take no more than two hours to perform and only require patients to go under IV sedation or twilight anesthesia, making the operation a relatively short and simple process when performed by a qualified medical professional.

Who are the best candidates for brow lifts?

The best candidates for brow lift surgery are most commonly adults in excellent health and over the age of 30—although most patients range in age from 40 to 70—who happen to be suffering from a sagging or lower-than-normal position of the eyebrows. Other potential candidates for brow lifts include those with deep creases across their forehead, or frown lines between the eyebrows and across the bridge of the nose.

Prior to undergoing the procedure, patients may be asked by their physician to undergo lab testing or a medical evaluation to certify their overall health. In addition, they may need to adjust the dosage of certain prescription medications before or after the procedure, and may also need to stop smoking well in advance of the surgery. It is imperative that anyone contemplating undergoing a brow lift be completely honest with their doctor about all medical and lifestyle issues prior to going under the knife.

Increasingly, younger patients are choosing to undergo brow lifts in conjunction with a hair transplant, fat transfer, blepharoplasty, or face lift as a way to increase the youthfulness in the face. In these cases, patients may need to undergo additional medical testing prior to the procedure to ensure they are healthy enough for the brow lift operation.

What are the benefits of brow lifts?

Satisfied brow lift patients report an endless number of benefits, aside from the obvious cosmetic outcome of having fewer deep lines and wrinkles on the upper face. Depending on a patient’s desired results and appearance prior to the surgery, the overall outcome of a brow lift can be anything from subtle to dramatic.

For many, a successful brow lift can be the first chance in years for their outward appearance to reflect the youthful spirit and energy they feel inside. Once initial swelling has subsided and a patient has undergone a full several weeks of recovery, the majority report feeling more refreshed and rejuvenated than they have in years.

What risks are involved?

As with all surgeries, those undergoing brow lifts do face a certain set of medical risks. Although complications are rare, patients should be aware that they may not be able to move their eyebrows or forehead after the surgery, a condition that requires additional surgeries to correct. In addition, brow lift patients risk losing sensation at the incision line, permanent hair loss, or scarring, as well as more common plastic surgery risks which include infection, bleeding, or other minor complications.

Patients should consult with their doctors to receive full information about each of these potential side effects and complications before going under the knife.

Have you noticed that your eyelids are drooping or seem particularly heavy? Perhaps you’ve considered eyelid surgery. Chances are that you are a good candidate for a brow lift. Performed either on its own or in conjunction with eyelid surgery, a brow lift can be very effective in correcting the appearance of sagging, dropping or heavy-looking eyelids.

Do you feel that you always look tired or angry? Because the eyes are usually the first things we notice when we look at another person, much of our first impressions are based on their appearance. As we age, changes to the skin around our eyes can create the impression that we are more tired, sad, or angry than we actually are. Not only can these changes in appearance affect our self-esteem, they can also interfere with our ability to make a great first impression. A brow lift can reverse these signs of aging, making you appear happier and more rested.

Do you have deep furrows between your eyebrows or horizontal wrinkles across your forehead? During a brow lift procedure, a surgeon tightens the skin and muscles in the in the forehead and eyebrow area, removing frown lines and horizontal wrinkles and preventing them from forming.
