A Hermiston plastic surgeon can offer many surgical and non-surgical techniques for all patients who wants to look and feel their best.

The adage, “looks aren’t everything,” holds a lot of truth, and people shouldn’t wrap up their happiness in outer appearances. However, age, heredity, and the environment may make us a little uncomfortable about the way we look. Sometimes a little alteration to make us feel better can change our lives for the better. If you’ve ever thought about seeing a Hermiston plastic surgeon, here are a few things to consider.

What should I look for in a plastic surgeon?
Dr. Richard Flaiz, of E.N.T. Facial Plastic and Laser Center, says one important quality to look for is the Hermiston plastic surgeon’s qualifications. Is the doctor board certified in the area where the procedure will be performed? How much experience doing the type of surgery you’re looking for does she or he have? Another thing is to feel comfortable with the person you choose.

What kind of results can I expect?
Dr. Flaiz says that for many of his Rhinoplasty (surgically changing the appearance of the outside of the nose) patients, it can be life-changing. Before undertaking any surgical procedure, he offers a free consultation with his patients to discuss what their motivations are and their expectations to ensure that they are realistic. “It’s important to know what can and cannot be done.” For patients wanting a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), a Hermiston plastic surgeon can takes years off their appearance. But, the surgery cannot make a sixty-year-old eye look like a twenty-year-old one.

Is surgery the only method for improving my appearance?
The trend in facial plastic surgery, according to Dr. Flaiz, is toward less, rather than more, surgery, and this also applies to face lifts. There are many non-surgical procedures patients can opt for. When a person’s face starts to droop, this is due to volume loss. Many Hermiston plastic surgeons, Dr. Flaiz included, can offer patients derma fillers which are injections used to replace volume. Other skin improving methods Dr. Flaiz offers include microdermabrasion and fractional laser resurfacing that can minimize scars, brown spots, and blood vessels.

Having a healthy self-image is important. Sometimes, looking better can lead to feeling better, but this is not always possible to do without a little help. Before making any decisions about altering your appearance, consult a Hermiston plastic surgeon.

For more information about his services and what your options are, you can contact Dr. Flaiz at E.N.T. Facial Plastic and Laser Center.

If you or your child is experiencing difficulties, you can contact Dr. Flaiz for an appointment.

Patients who undergo rhinoplasty need to understand that it may take six months or longer before they will be able to see their full results.

Rhinoplasty is the type of intricate surgical procedure that few surgeons are truly skilled enough to perform well. In Philadelphia, one of the leading rhinoplasty surgeons is Dr. Paul M. Glat. According to Dr. Glat, patients who undergo rhinoplasty need to understand that it may take six months or longer before they will be able to see their full results.

At the very least, patients who undergo rhinoplasty in Philadelphia should expect to wait approximately one week after surgery before their initial bandages can come off. Dr. Glat explains that surgeons who perform rhinoplasty have to break their patients’ bones in order to reshape their noses, and all this bone breakage can cause quite a bit of bruising. This is a necessary component of any rhinoplasty or nose job.

Thankfully, Dr. Glat says there are ways that patients can cut down on the bruising and swelling resulting from their rhinoplasty procedures. The Philadelphia rhinoplasty surgeon recommends that patients take certain herbal remedies and spend time with ice packs on their faces. He also advises patients to keep their heads elevated while they sleep, and to avoid over-exerting themselves by going back to work or resuming stressful daily activities too soon after their surgeries.

The first week after surgery is going to be a rough week, says Dr. Glat. During that time, patients can expect that they may have some bleeding and a little bit of discomfort. Although the above recommendations can help curtail these issues, they may not eliminate them entirely.

Approximately one week after rhinoplasty surgery in Philadelphia, Dr. Glat says patients can expect their splints to come off. Once the splint comes off, most people are doing pretty well and starting to feel more like themselves again, even though their noses will still be fairly swollen. Dr. Glat typically tells patients that the nose they see when the splint comes off is the general size and shape of their new nose, however a lot of the definition will not be visible because until the swelling goes down. This initial swelling will remain for about one month before it begins to disappear.

The bridge of the nose may remain swollen for another six months after the surgery, says the Philadelphia rhinoplasty surgeon, however the swelling will usually be slight enough that other people will not notice it. Patients should expect to wait between six months and one year for swelling to subside completely. It can take this long for the final result of a rhinoplasty procedure to be achieved.

If you’re considering plastic surgery, it is important to know that the surgeon you choose is well qualified to perform your surgery, and thus able to effectively achieve the results you are seeking.

If you’re considering plastic surgery, it is important to know that the surgeon you choose is well qualified to perform your surgery, and thus able to effectively achieve the results you are seeking. According to David Liland, M.D., not every cosmetic surgeon is equally qualified. In fact, according to the Dallas plastic surgeon, if a doctor has not been board certified there is a good chance that the doctor does not possess the necessary experience to perform cosmetic surgery that will have the results you are looking for.

It is important then to note when choosing a doctor for your cosmetic surgery that the individual has been given the title of plastic surgeon. In terms of considering a cosmetic surgery for yourself, it is essential to understand the different types of procedures a plastic surgeon in Dallas can provide. According to Dr. Liland, there are seven basic procedures of cosmetic surgery. These procedures include but are not limited to:

face lift

breast augmentation

liposuction

tummy tuck

breast lift

breast reduction

eye lift

Of these seven basic procedures, Dr. Liland states liposuction and breast augmentation are the two procedures plastic surgeons perform most frequently. When you’re considering a plastic surgeon in Dallas, you’ll first want to review evidence of his surgical skill. While this task may seem difficult to gauge, observing the doctor’s own before and after photos can be very helpful and insightful into the results you can expect to see in your own surgery. Another great option the plastic surgeon in Dallas recommends is interviewing a former patient that underwent the same cosmetic surgery you’re considering. Doing so, you will be able to have a basic idea of what your surgery will entail. These two approaches towards considering cosmetic surgery from a specific plastic surgeon can provide you with a knowledgeable overview of the doctor you are reviewing. You’ll find that Dr. Liland’s skill, compassion and personal approach make your entire consultation and surgical process a low-stress, enjoyable experience. If considering utilizing a plastic surgeon to correct an imperfection, slim down, look younger or simply feel more confident, contact Dr. Liland for a personal consultation.

It is very important that patients who are considering undergoing rhinoplasty work with a board certified plastic surgeon who focuses on noses.

Rhinoplasty is a very complex surgery. In fact, Dr. Pradeep Sinha of Atlanta Facial Plastic Surgery says that, generally speaking, rhinoplasty is the most complex type of plastic surgery there is. Surgeons who perform rhinoplasty procedures are dealing with seven different structures that are all intermingling, and Dr. Sinha says the nose acts as a sort of large Rubik’s cube, in that you cannot make an adjustment to one structure without impacting all the others.

First and foremost, Dr. Sinha says that the way a person can expect his rhinoplasty to turn out and the way he or she can expect to heal will depend on the surgeon who performed the procedure. It is very important that patients who are considering undergoing rhinoplasty in Atlanta work with a board certified plastic surgeon who focuses on noses. Rhinoplasty is not an easy surgery, and it is not something that recent medical school graduates are qualified to perform.

Not only does it require ample training to become a skilled rhinoplasty surgeon in Atlanta, but it also requires years of experience. Rather than looking at board certification alone when selecting a surgeon for a rhinoplasty in Atlanta, Dr. Sinha recommends that people look at board certification plus experience. That is one of the keys to ensuring a successful outcome in this type of case.

Dr. Sinha himself has been offering rhinoplasty since 1991, and he says it took him at least 12 years before he could be considered one of the best at these types of complex procedures. Rhinoplasty is a procedure that surgeons never stop getting better at, and the longer a surgeon has been offering this procedure generally the more refined his skills have become.

People can find younger surgeons who will perform rhinoplasty at reduced rates, however Dr. Sinha says that is not necessarily the best route to go. He explains the issue in terms of a haircut. Any hairstylist can cut a person’s hair, but it takes a very good hairstylist to cut a person’s hair in a way that still looks great four weeks later. That analogy rings true in the world of plastic surgery, where some surgeons are far more skilled at rhinoplasty procedures than others.

The healing period for a person undergoing rhinoplasty is between six and 12 months, and Dr. Sinha says the final result will not appear until at least one year after the procedure. The reason for this long recovery time has to do with the sheer number of moving pieces and the large number of healing processes that have to go on.

For more information on getting the best outcome from a rhinoplasty in Atlanta, Dr. Sinha recommends that people contact his office for a consultation appointment.

For a significant percentage of the public, if you were to ask them what part of their bodies bothers them the most, the answer would be their noses.

The goal for many people who choose to undergo elective cosmetic surgery is to boost their self-confidence. As you may know, when you are truly unhappy with a part of your body, it can easily become all that you think about and really keep you from going after what you want in life.

If you were to ask most people what part of their bodies bothers them the most, the answer would likely be their noses. In fact, year after year, rhinoplasties are one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries throughout the country.

At Weston Center for Plastic Surgery, Inc., Barry Schwartz M.D., a leading rhinoplasty surgeon in the Fort Lauderdale, says that if you are unsatisfied with your nose and it has bothered you for some time, then this surgery delivers remarkable results. However, before many people agree to go under the knife, they want to know what to expect afterward. Not only do they want to know how their new noses will look, but also how they will feel in the days following surgery.

This is a very common concern, Dr. Schwartz says, and a valid one as well. Your surgery itself, he says, will most likely be an outpatient procedure, which means that you will be able to return home the same day as your rhinoplasty takes place. Unless you have underlying conditions that put you at risk for complications, the entire process will likely only take a few hours.

While every surgery is slightly different from the one before it, there are some common side effects that you can generally expect afterward. Immediately following your surgery and in the subsequent days, you can expect to experience some nasal stuffiness and will probably have to breathe mainly through your mouth. You may also suffer from some facial swelling, headaches, and dryness of the mouth.

To alleviate some of these symptoms, Dr. Schwartz recommends drinking plenty of fluids and keeping ice packs over your eyes to decrease the swelling. You also need to keep in mind that you will have a drip pad under your nose to absorb any blood or secretions, which you may need to change from time to time.

After a typical rhinoplasty, you can expect the swelling to last four to five days and the facial bruising to last eight to 10 days. Numbness and stuffiness, however, may last anywhere between three and six months. While all of these symptoms are complete normal, Dr. Schwartz urges patients to contact their physicians if they are concerned about anything or if they begin to experience excessive bleeding.

At Weston Center for Plastic Surgery, Inc., patients are required to come in for a follow-up visit within two days of surgery to check the progress of the operation and discuss any additional questions or concerns. Since this is a surgery, you will also need to rest for a few days. Take this time to focus on yourself, Dr. Schwartz suggests.

Rhinoplasties have proven to be life-altering for many people who once hated their noses. If your nose is a point of frustration for you, then you may benefit from setting up a consultation with a local plastic surgeon and discussing the options available to you.

Radiesse, which is traditionally used to increase the volume in the face in order to erase the lines that form as you age, can also add enough volume to alter the appearance of your facial features.

The amount of possible results that are available through cosmetic surgeries continues to increase, and now doctors are able to perform noninvasive procedures with amazing outcomes that previously could only have been achieved through surgery. One such instance that is gaining in popularity is reshaping your nose with fillers, such as Radiesse, as opposed to surgery. Radiesse, which is traditionally used to increase the volume in the face in order to erase the lines that form as you age, can also add enough volume to alter the appearance of your facial features. Fillers, explains Dave David M.D, are space occupiers which are similar to filling in the spaces of a wall with spackle.

As Dr. David explains, if your nose is pushed to one side, you can actually fill out the area to provide a straighter-looking nose by developing and reshaping the bridge of your nose or straightening your nasal profile. Unlike surgery, with Radiesse, nasal defects can be corrected quickly with immediate results. This works particularly well for minor, more subtle changes, he explains, because you will not need to undergo surgery or be subjected to the healing process of a rhinoplasty either.

However, because you will need to have this treatment roughly every year—as the effects of Radiesse do fade over time—if your cosmetic surgeon feels that your condition is more advanced, then surgery may be your best option. Regardless, it is great to know that you have other choices to consider.

In addition to reshaping their noses, Dr. David says that some patients at Medical Face and Body Aesthetics have also chosen to fill in their acne scars with fillers as well. While some people are concerned with the lines and wrinkles that have been brought about by age, there are a number of people who are plagued by scars from their younger years when their skin was less than stellar.

Others have found that through injections of Radiesse, they’ve been able to enhance their current chin and jaw lines. The result is a stronger and more elegant chin that blends in perfectly to give you a more youthful appearance.

Of course, the majority of patients who visit Medical Face and Body Aesthetics still opt for fillers for the same reasons as before. As an experienced surgeon in Boston who specializes in Botox and filler treatments, Dr. David says that fillers continue to be a great choice for reducing the lines on your face by providing results that will last you throughout the years.

When meeting with your cosmetic surgeon, it never hurts to voice your concerns over the parts of your body that bother you the most. You never know what options are out there to give you the results you’ve been dreaming of.

After years of staring down your reflection in the mirror and scowling at the sight of your oversized nose, you finally did it: You underwent rhinoplasty to minimize the size of your nose and restore your self-esteem. Unfortunately, once you got a chance to glance at your post-surgical reflection, you came to an unsettling realization: Your new nose isn’t what you wanted it to be.

If you’re unhappy with the results of your recent nose job, then try to take a deep breath before you fly off the emotional deep end. Dr. Gregory A. Mantooth is a board certified plastic surgeon at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Piedmont Plastic Surgery & Dermatology, and according to him, those who wind up displeased with their cosmetic surgery outcomes do have options for improving their situations.

If your post-rhinoplasty nose isn’t what you had hoped it would be, then the first thing to do is to talk to your surgeon about it. In fact, when it comes to any type of plastic surgery, doctor-patient communication is truly key. After all, the best way to approach the plastic surgery process from the get-go is to ensure that you and your doctor are both on the same page in terms of expectations and potential results. However, if you’re far past that point, then talk to your doctor about why you’re unhappy with your plastic surgery results so that he can work with you to fix the problem at hand. It is often possible for a plastic surgeon to make modifications following a rhinoplasty procedure.

However, before you jump to the conclusion that your new nose is in no way what you wanted, it’s important to give your face time to heal following the procedure. Post-surgical swelling can often mask or alter the true appearance of a newly shaped nose, so before you drive yourself crazy thinking that you’re going to have to repeat the process, wait a few weeks – or, preferably, months – for the swelling to go down. At that point, you’ll be in a better position to judge whether or not your surgeon really needs to take steps to fix his work.

Of course, if you do eventually decide that your nose truly didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, then you should know that it may take up to a year before your doctor will be able to make any refinements. However, if need be, your doctor can, at that point, adjust the shape of your nose by maneuvering the nasal bone or cartilage.

Dealing with a disappointing plastic surgery outcome can be challenging physically and emotionally. However, before you despair, try to put things in perspective and realize that just as your surgeon managed to transform your nose the first time around, he also can make any necessary adjustments in a second attempt. It may not be the ideal situation, but it’s an option nonetheless.

Some types of nose jobs are not done for cosmetic reasons. Septal surgery is a procedure carried out to alleviate breathing problems. Dr. Thomas Liszka of Ballantyne Plastic Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina, talks here about what is involved in this operation, which involves reshaping or moving cartilage in the nose, or removing the turbinate bone.

Septal surgery is done usually to alleviate breathing obstruction. Sometimes setpal surgery is necessary to straighten the nose, when it is crooked or has a fracture. Septal surgery is also frequently done at the time of cosmetic rhinoplasty, although it is rarely done for cosmetic reasons alone.

The septum is a thin piece of cartilage and bone in the middle of the nose. In some people, it bends too much one way or the other into one or both sides of the nose, causing an obstruction. This can be the result of an injury, or simply because it grew that way on its own.

Different Procedures

A variety of septal procedures that can be done based on the problem, depending on the problem that the patient has. If the septum is warped or curved the cartilage can be removed. Sometimes the cartilage itself is scoured to make it move a specific way. It can be combined with other intra-nasal procedures for obstruction, namely the removal of the turbinate bone.

The operation only takes about 40 minutes and the recovery period is not that onerous, although if you blow your nose for about a week afterwards, it can start to bleed. Your nose will feel tender and it will be blocked for up to two weeks, although special sprays can help alleviate this.

It is recommended that you take about two weeks off following the operation, and that you avoid from playing any contact sports where your nose could be knocked for at least a month. Experiencing sensitivity on your nose for a while afterward is common.

Septal surgery may sound a bit gruesome but it can come as a great relief to people who have suffered from breathing difficulties for years. And if you do choose to combine it with cosmetic rhinoplasty, it can be a winning combination.

Not everyone who has a nose job comes away with the perfect nose they desire.

A rhinoplasty can reshape the nose and allow better facial harmony by reducing a nasal hump, augment a depression at the bridge of the nose, refine or lift the tip, make a broad nose more narrow, straighten a crooked nose, or narrow nostril width if the base of the nostrils are too wide.

At Ballantyne Plastic Surgery, we correct these issues to whatever degree you desire to allow you to achieve a natural-looking result and maintain your appearance. And the best candidate for any kind of plastic surgery, including a nose job, is someone who has realistic expectations.

Saying that, the best candidate for a nose job – meaning the person who will have the best results – is someone who has a dorsal hump and wants it straightened. More difficult nose jobs are those that deal with the nasal tip. Patients with thinner skin on the tip have better results, as it shows the architecture of the cartilage better.

People who have thick nasal tip skin, usually those of Mediterranean or African origin, tend to have less ability to have high definition of the tip. We also sometimes augment the nose, actually adding volume to it. That happens less often, perhaps with a patient of Asian descent who has a flatter bridge to the nose, for example.

Realistic Expectations

One thing unusually about rhinoplasty, unlike any other type of plastic surgery, is that the risk of not getting it how the patient wants is 10% to 15%, due to the nature of the cartilage and bone sin the nose. You can sometimes make it better but that will involve a re-operation.

Again, that’s where the most important thing is to have good expectations. You have to be careful if the surgeon tells you that you cannot do what you ask him or her to do. If you don’t listen, you will have problems after the surgery.

Final Results Can Take a Year

Rhinoplasty requires a 7- to 10-day recovery period and no exercise for a minimum of two weeks. Swelling on the tip can take up to a year to go away and allow you to see the final results. It’s all subtle but it can take about a year nonetheless. Rhinoplasty also can be performed with septal surgery for breathing difficulties or with other facial cosmetic procedures.

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery used to improve the look of a person’s face by adjusting the shape and proportion of his nose.

As the most common type of facial plastic surgery in the United States, thousands of rhinoplasty operations are performed in operating rooms across the country each day with the goal of reshaping the noses of image-conscious patients hoping for a more refined look.

Of course, not every rhinoplasty procedure — also known as a nose job — is performed with a solely cosmetic purpose in mind. For thousands of patients suffering from deviated septums, rhinoplasty may be the last resort in a quest to fix a breathing abnormality caused by injury or genetics.

Whether the reason is cosmetic or medical, an increasing number of patients are choosing to undergo rhinoplasty every year, thanks largely to recent advances in technology that have made the procedure quicker, safer, and more painless than ever before.

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery used to improve the look of a person’s face by adjusting the shape and proportion of his or her nose. Some of the multitude of adjustments a facial plastic surgeon can make during the procedure include changing the nose’s size, width, and position of the nostril, as well as decreasing visible humps, bumps, and depressions, and reshaping the nasal tip. Increasingly, surgeons are able to use new technology to recreate the look of a celebrity’s nose for patients with the desire to look more like their favorite star.

How’s this done? Carefully. Because a surgeon’s technique must be so refined to successfully complete a rhinoplasty to the highest standards, plastic surgeons who perform the surgery are often known as the artists of their field.

To perform an effective rhinoplasty, surgeons must work carefully to make a small incision either across the columella, the skin that separates the nostrils, or inside a patient’s nose—known as a “closed rhinoplasty.” Increasingly, facial plastic surgeons are choosing to go with the “closed rhinoplasty” technique as a way of minimizing potential scarring for their patients, although a number of other rhinoplasty techniques exist as well.

Once the incision has been made, a licensed surgeon will use tools to adjust the cartilage and bone inside a patient’s nose before stitching the open skin back in place and finishing the surgery. This generally takes 1 to 3 hours to complete, although some smaller cases can be completed in as little as 15 minutes.

Although rhinoplasty is most commonly performed for cosmetic purposes, it should also be noted that it can be done to fix breathing problems—such as when a patient has a deviated septum—or to correct certain birth defects that effect the nose.

Who are the best candidates for rhinoplasty?

Nearly anyone who is unhappy with the look of their nose can be considered as a candidate for rhinoplasty. Optimally, patients should be old enough to ensure that their nasal bone has matured and that the shape of their nose has stabilized, which is generally ages 14 to 15 for girls and slightly older for most boys. They should also be in excellent mental and physical health.

In addition, it is important that all candidates for rhinoplasty have reasonable expectations as to the outcome of the surgery. Because surgery outcomes can vary so much from patient to patient, candidates should feel comfortable discussing their cosmetic goals with their surgeon prior to going into the surgery for the best chances of a positive outcome.

Patients who are not considered good candidates for rhinoplasty include those who are using the surgery as a way to improve their career or relationship, and anyone who is unusually obsessed with the look of their nose, since many could be setting themselves up for disappointment should the outcome of the procedure not meet their expectations.
