Celebrity Plastic Surgeries

Educated as a plastic surgeon at the prestigious Cincinnati Clinic, Dr. David Bottger has established himself as one of the foremost experts of plastic and hand surgeries in the Newton, Pennsylvania, area. Working on changing peoples’ appearances is a part of Dr. Bottger’s business and he has a near encyclopedic knowledge of cosmetic procedures. His patients will often refer him to stories of their favorite celebrities and ask him about the nature of their plastic surgery procedures. In the course of answering these questions, Dr. Bottger has learned quite a bit about these famous cases. Below, he shares a few examples:

Cosmetic surgery is a business concerned with looks. Celebrities in America are also concerned with looks and, as such, remain ardent customers of plastic surgeons. My customers are always asking me about these famous cases of my craft. In short, some celebs look great after a procedure. Many do not. For better or worse I’ve outlined some famous plastic surgery recipients and surgeries they’ve received.

• Michael Jackson – Perhaps the world’s most famous cosmetic surgery recipient, the late singer Michael Jackson originally underwent rhinoplasty after breaking his nose during a dance routine. After the procedure, the Prince of Pop began to have breathing difficulties resulting from flaws in the surgery. He later underwent two consecutive surgeries — one to fix the first and a second for purely cosmetic reasons. Jackson has also had a dimple placed in his chin and various dermal filler injection, a process that alleviates wrinkles and aging. It is also alleged, though was denied by M.J., that he had alterations to areas around his eyes. Contrary to popular belief  African-American Jackson’s bizarrely white skin may have been the product of vitiligo, lupus and treatments he underwent to combat those conditions. His use of white makeup also greatly added to the affect.
• Cher – Another pop icon, Cher has undergone numerous lip augmentations to achieve those uniquely ubiquitous lips that have graced album covers, music videos and movie roles.  Collagen injections are the most likely source of the star’s full, distinctive lips, but she may have also had dermalogen, a newer more concentrated and longer lasting variety.
• Sharon Stone – The actress has undergone terrific rhinoplasty to achieve what is now a near perfect nose. In addition, it appears that Stone has also undergone a facelift to combat wrinkles and signs of aging. This is a charge she stoutly denies, though in my professional opinion it seems likely. No one’s face gets tighter with age without a little professional help.
• Marilyn Monroe – It has been alleged that this great beauty had a variety of professional help in achieving her iconic status. Some believe that Monroe underwent breast, jaw line and eye-related cosmetic procedures to achieve her unforgettable look. Though I can neither confirm nor deny such rumors, what is for certain is that Monroe definitely had rhinoplasty. Before and after pictures of the actress clearly show a once bulbous nose shaped to a perfect one. So much for natural beauty.
• Beyonce Knowles – Though she looked great to begin with, Knowles has definitely undergone more than one procedure aimed at making her look even better. Her once full lips have certainly been reduced at some point and her nose thinned to graceful proportions.
• Victoria Beckham- No doubt about it, Posh Spice has had some fairly drastic breast implants. Though large for her petite frame, she certainly carries her new breasts with the style for which she is so acclaimed.
• Lindsay Lohan – Though many of my patients have asked me about the actress’s breasts, my professional opinion remains that they are in fact real. They just so happen to be immaculately perfect.
• The Osbournes – The Ozzman has confessed to having had both rhinoplasty and a facelift. He has no regrets at all, citing the procedures as the reasons for his self-confidence and mental well-being. Wife Sharon Osbourne has also undergone a variety of cosmetic procedures including a tummy tuck, breast enhancement and a face lift.
• Britney Spears – Yup, Britney’s had a nose job too. A talented cosmetic surgeon reduced her nose into a dainty little perfection.

Some other celebrity cosmetic procedures include: Angelina Jolie’s nose job, Tara Reed’s breast implants, and Jessica Simpson’s lip enhancement. The list of celebrities that have undergone cosmetic procedures goes on and on. But why are celebrities so inclined to cosmetic procedures?  Human bodies are never perfect and up close. So everyone, even beautiful celebrities, show flaws. But celebrities come under the intense scrutiny of fans, magazines, and paparazzi. Plus a celebrity’s life and livelihood often depends on his looks. Just remember, regular or ordinary sometimes a cosmetic surgery can be the missing ingredient for a perfect you.
