Difference Between Smart Lipo and Laser Liposuction
Confused about the difference between Smart Lipo and laser liposuction? Here to explain what it all really means is Dr. George Solomon, a Florida cosmetic surgeon currently in practice at AgeLess MediSpa in Port Orange. He is a graduate of San Diego State University, California State University, Dominguez Hills, and Ross University School of Medicine, and completed his residency training through Kansas University. Now in practice, Dr. Solomon has years of experience helping women achieve their most naturally beautiful look by using various types of liposuction techniques.
Oftentimes, patients will come into my office asking for Smart Lipo. They have already decided that’s the procedure that want, they are really interested in getting it, and they know that it can help reduce their butt, arms, chin, and other areas of the body. What they don’t know, however, is that Smart Lipo is essentially the exact same thing as laser liposuction — it’s just a branded version.
I’m usually hesitant to recommend that a patient try out Smart Lipo because the brand of the machine is really not what’s important when a person is considering this type of cosmetic surgery. Because Smart Lipo is the same thing as laser liposuction, a lot of laser machines probably have the same, if not better, effectiveness than Smart Lipo. So I’m hesitant to recommend one particular brand to patients.
What I will say is that the company that created Smart Lipo was very smart, and they have done a really good job of branding their product so that everyone thinks of laser liposuction as Smart Lipo. On the market right now, there are machines made by companies like Pro-Lipo and LipoLite, to name just a few companies, and they are all really similar machines that just have different names on them.
Here at AgeLess MediSpa, we do laser liposuction on patients using a machine that is similar to Smart Lipo, but made by a different company. However, it does the same type of thing as Smart Lipo, in that our laser liposuction machine uses the same wavelengths — most of them, anyway — to get rid of fat in a certain area of a patient’s body.
What happens during laser liposuction, for those who don’t know, is that we will seek out areas of fat in the patient’s body, then user the laser’s wavelengths to dissolve those fat cells into fluid. That fluid is drained out of the body, lessening the amount of fat that is in there. At the same time, one real benefit of laser liposuction compared to traditional liposuction is the heat element of the laser, which stimulates collagen production in the skin and creates a tight, smooth result.
So like I said, laser liposuction is a good alternative to traditional liposuction because we are able to target specific areas on a patient’s body. Our laser liposuction procedures are all done in-office, and they usually only take around 45 minutes to complete. Whether you’re interested in Smart Lipo, LipoLite, or any of the other branded liposuction procedures out there, know that they are all about the same. What you really saying you want is laser liposuction, as opposed to traditional liposuction, and that’s about it.
