How Long Does It Take to See Results from Lipo-Ex?

For men and women with stubborn, exercise-resistant fat stores like love handles and saddlebags, Lipo-Ex offers safe, effective fat reduction results. How long will it take for you to see the results of your Lipo-Ex treatment? According to Texarkana liposuction alternative specialist Theresa Fontenot of ReNew Medical Spa, Lipo-Ex produces visible results in a relatively short time, but it’s definitely not a quick fix.

Lipo-Ex (a form of radiofrequency-assisted lipoplasty) works differently than liposuction to reduce fat. Rather than surgically suctioning entire fat cells from the body, Lipo-Ex uses radiofrequency wave to “melt” the fat within fat cells and drain them. Once the fat cells are drained, the contents are naturally expelled by the body’s lymphatic system.

The treatment can be beneficial not only from a cosmetic perspective, Fontenot says, but also from health perspective. Lipo-Ex is the only fat reduction method (other than diet and exercise) known to target dangerous visceral fat as well as subcutaneous fat.

Your Appointments

“When you come to ReNew for your first Lipo-Ex appointment,” Fontenot says, “we’ll talk with you about your medical history to ensure that you’re a good candidate for the procedure.” While most people can be treated with Lipo-Ex, there are some people who aren’t good candidates. This includes people who have had multiple surgeries over the treatment area or people who are unable to do any form of exercise.

If it’s determined that Lipo-Ex is right for you, the procedure itself is much like a procedure you’d receive at a traditional spa. “The lights are turned down and the atmosphere is very relaxing,” Fontenot explains.

As for the device itself, Fontenot says that looks a bit like an ultrasound wand. The wand is moved across the treatment area, increasing heat to that area and also increasing the body’s metabolic rate. The entire procedure lasts between 40 and 60 minutes.

Once the procedure is completed, you can return directly to your normal activities. But, Fontenot says, you’ll be asked to do at least some moderate exercise within the first 72 hours after the procedure to help metabolize the melted fat.

Your Treatment Plan

A Lipo-Ex treatment plan normally involves eight treatment sessions total, spaced about one week apart. Results, Fontenot says, can vary from patient to patient. Most commonly, patients begin to see results at about the third week.

“The results from your first session take about three weeks to become visible,” she explains. “The results are a little delayed. Your final results won’t really be visible until about three weeks after your final procedure.” The skin-tightening effect, however, continues for months after your treatments are completed, she says. And it’s not uncommon to see improvements in skin firmness and smoothness as long as six months after a Lipo-Ex treatment course.

After Your Treatment

While fat loss with Lipo-Ex is permanent, it is still possible to gain weight after the procedure. Adopting and keeping a healthy lifestyle is important if you want to maintain your results. One benefit of Lipo-Ex over liposuction, however, is that it helps to you maintain a smooth appearance in the treated area despite minor weight fluctuations.

“If you do gain some weight after the procedure,” Fontenot says, “you’re not going to get that ‘lumpy’ appearance if you lose it again later on.”
