How to Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation Caused by Hormones

The single best way to get rid of hyperpigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations is by using a cynosure laser. Tomball med spa expert Elizabeth Wanner, at Tomball Laser Boutique in Tomball, TX, says that the cynosure laser is frequently used to reduce the amount of pigment that people have as they age. This pigmentation is what the general public usually refers to as age spots.
As Wanner explains, the cynosure laser is one of the top three lasers in the country that is available for getting rid of hyperpigmentation or age spots, and patients who come into her med spa in Tomball are usually delighted to find out that they will be able to use this innovative technology.
Age spots are unsightly blotches that appear on the skin as people get older. Age spots are also commonly referred to as café au lait, light brown patches, or even sun spots. These spots are flat to the skin, as opposed to a spot that is raised or crusty.
Age spots that appear raised on the skin are actually something known as seborrheic keratoses – a very different condition. Seborrheic keratoses would not be amendable to a treatment with the cynosure laser, explains Wanner. Nonetheless, if a person has a few light brown patches that are contiguous with his or her skin, then a treatment with the cynosure laser would be appropriate.
Wanner says that many women will come into her med spa in Tomball with concerns over the light brown patches or sun spots that are showing up along their chest. The concerns that these women have are usually cosmetic, because most women do not like how the brown spots look. Some people also have sun spots on their faces, but Wanner says these are only very common among patients who spend a lot of time outdoors.
If a patient has several sun spots on his or her face, then Wanner would recommend a treatment known as an IPL photofacial. IPL photofacials cover a large area at once, and Wanner says she would personally choose to do an IPL treatment for a broader area while saving the cynosure laser treatments for more confined spots on the hand or the chest.
The number of cynosure laser treatments a patient is going to need will depend on her skin type and the severity of the damage. Generally speaking, Wanner says people will see considerable results within two to three treatments. On the other hand, a person whose skin is heavily damaged will be looking at getting a series of six IPL treatments at Wanner’s med spa in Tomball before all of her age spots can be completely knocked out.
